This primary bathroom, completed in July 2022 in South Haven, MI, was designed by Jennifer Peterson. The space features a dedicated vanity area with a custom-painted desk and an oval mirror, separated by a partial wall from the main bathing area. A freestanding tub sits opposite a double vanity with light green cabinetry and black hardware. The room is designed for comfort and functionality.
The palette combines warm neutrals on the walls with light marble-patterned floor tiles and shower walls. A wood-slat accent wall adds texture behind the tub. The spacious walk-in shower includes a bench and black fixtures, complementing the black faucets at the vanities and tub. Skylights and a large window bring natural light into the tranquil space.

About the studio
Two sisters, one studio
Jennifer Peterson founded J. Peterson Design in 2008 and leads our work in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. Her sister, Jill Kearns, leads the Atlanta studio. Together, we design homes that feel considered and beautiful, but also comfortable, functional, and personal to the people who live in them.
Although we work in different cities, we operate as one studio. We talk through plans, share ideas, question each other, and bring another experienced set of eyes to the decisions that matter. Being sisters makes that collaboration especially natural — there is a shorthand, an honesty, and a shared standard that has been there long before the studio.
