Kitchen Design in Kenilworth
Our Kitchen Design service provides comprehensive plans for new kitchens and kitchen renovations. We design the layout, select materials, and document the details for your contractor to build.
What we do
We begin with a Design consultation to understand your project. We then present your design, including floor plans and elevations. Our Construction documents provide detailed drawings, and we guide Material selections for cabinetry, countertops, and fixtures. During Jobsite inspections, we visit the site to review progress. We conclude with Finishing touches, ensuring all design elements are in place.
Who it suits
This service is for homes in Chicago, Southwest Michigan, and Atlanta needing a new kitchen or a full kitchen renovation. It suits older homes in areas like Buckhead or Lake Forest, or new construction in Saugatuck.

Homes in Kenilworth
Kenilworth features many 1920s and 1930s brick and stone homes, often with smaller, enclosed kitchens that homeowners now want opened up to living spaces. We often help with Kitchen Design in these homes, creating more open layouts. Many homes in Kenilworth, including those built in the 1950s and 1960s, have basements with lower ceilings that benefit from our Basement Remodel service, making them feel more spacious and usable. We also see many 1980s and 1990s two-story homes with primary bathrooms that are split into two small rooms, prompting requests for Bathroom Design to create a single, larger space.
What homeowners in Kenilworth ask for
Homeowners in Kenilworth frequently engage us for Kitchen Design to update 1920s and 1930s kitchens, often removing walls to connect them with dining areas. Many also seek Bathroom Design for primary suites in 1980s and 1990s homes, combining smaller, separated spaces into one larger, more functional bathroom. Basement Remodel projects are common in 1950s and 1960s homes to improve the usability of lower-level spaces. We also provide Full-Home Design for larger renovations in Kenilworth's classic homes.
Kitchen Design work from the studio
Led by Jennifer Peterson from the Chicago studio
About the studio
Two sisters, one studio
Jennifer Peterson founded J. Peterson Design in 2008 and leads our work in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. Her sister, Jill Kearns, leads the Atlanta studio. Together, we design homes that feel considered and beautiful, but also comfortable, functional, and personal to the people who live in them.
Although we work in different cities, we operate as one studio. We talk through plans, share ideas, question each other, and bring another experienced set of eyes to the decisions that matter. Being sisters makes that collaboration especially natural — there is a shorthand, an honesty, and a shared standard that has been there long before the studio.
