Full-Home Design in Mount Prospect

Full-Home Design provides comprehensive interior design for your entire residence. We design all interior spaces, from initial concept through finishing touches, creating a cohesive home.

What we do

Our process begins with a Design consultation to understand your home's scope. We then present your design, including drawings and material concepts. Construction documents detail the design for your contractor, and Material selections specify all finishes and fixtures. We conduct Jobsite inspections as construction progresses, and add Finishing touches to complete your home.

Who it suits

This service suits newly built homes in Chicago, Southwest Michigan, or Atlanta. It is also for homeowners undertaking major renovations of existing houses, such as a historic bungalow in Atlanta or a lake house in Southwest Michigan.

Questions

What is included in Full-Home Design?

Full-Home Design includes a Design consultation, Presentation of your design, Construction documents, Material selections, Jobsite inspections, and Finishing touches for your entire home.

How does Full-Home Design differ from your other services?

Full-Home Design covers all interior spaces of your home, unlike Kitchen Design, Bath Design, or Living Space, which focus on individual rooms. It includes documentation for construction, which Furnishing & Styling and Color Consultation do not.

What do I receive at the end of the design process?

You receive a complete set of Construction documents, including drawings and specifications, along with detailed Material selections for all finishes and fixtures in your home. We also oversee the Jobsite inspections and Finishing touches.

How long does a Full-Home Design project typically take?

The duration of a Full-Home Design project varies based on the size and complexity of your home. We will discuss a timeline during your initial Design consultation.

How do you work with my contractor for Full-Home Design?

We provide your contractor with Construction documents, which detail the design for their build. We conduct Jobsite inspections to ensure the design is implemented correctly during construction.

Homes in Mount Prospect

Many homes in Mount Prospect include 1950s and 1960s ranches in neighborhoods like Forest View, often featuring smaller kitchens that feel closed off from living areas. We often assist with Kitchen Design to open these spaces. In areas like Kensington Place, homeowners frequently have 1970s and 1980s two-story homes with primary bathrooms split into small, separate rooms, which we address with Bathroom Design. We also see many 1920s bungalows near downtown Mount Prospect, where we often provide Color Consultation for original woodwork and plaster walls. Homes built in the 1990s and 2000s in subdivisions off Rand Road often have unpainted oak trim that homeowners want to update.

What homeowners in Mount Prospect ask for

Homeowners in Mount Prospect often come to us for Kitchen Design to update their 1950s and 1960s ranch kitchens, frequently involving opening up galley layouts. Bathroom Design is also common, especially for 1970s and 1980s homes where primary bathrooms are reconfigured from two small, separate spaces into one cohesive room. We also regularly provide Furnishing & Styling and Color Consultation for Living Space projects in 1990s and 2000s homes, updating finishes and furniture.

Full-Home Design work from the studio

Led by Jennifer Peterson from the Chicago studio

Jennifer Peterson and Jill Kearns, the sisters behind J. Peterson Design

About the studio

Two sisters, one studio

Jennifer Peterson founded J. Peterson Design in 2008 and leads our work in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. Her sister, Jill Kearns, leads the Atlanta studio. Together, we design homes that feel considered and beautiful, but also comfortable, functional, and personal to the people who live in them.

Although we work in different cities, we operate as one studio. We talk through plans, share ideas, question each other, and bring another experienced set of eyes to the decisions that matter. Being sisters makes that collaboration especially natural — there is a shorthand, an honesty, and a shared standard that has been there long before the studio.
