Bathroom Design in Wilmette

Our Bath Design service creates detailed plans for new or renovated bathrooms. We design the layout, select all materials, and document the construction details for your contractor.

What we do

Our process begins with a design consultation to understand your goals for the space. We then present your design, including floor plans and elevations. Construction documents detail the plumbing locations and electrical needs. Material selections cover everything from tile and fixtures to lighting and paint colors. We conduct jobsite inspections to ensure the design is built as intended, and we assist with finishing touches like accessories.

Who it suits

This service is for homeowners in Chicago, Southwest Michigan, and Atlanta. It suits renovations of existing bathrooms in historic homes or new construction primary bathrooms, guest bathrooms, and powder rooms.

Homes in Wilmette

Wilmette homes include 1920s brick Tudors and Colonials in areas like Indian Hill Estates, often featuring smaller, closed-off kitchens that homeowners want to open up. Many 1950s and 1960s ranches and split-levels in neighborhoods such as Mallard Ridge present opportunities for Full-Home Design, particularly with their original bathrooms that often have outdated layouts. We often work on these homes, addressing common issues like low basement ceilings in 1970s builds near Lake Michigan with Basement Remodel services. Homeowners also frequently seek Kitchen Design for these older homes, updating their original cabinetry and finishes.

What homeowners in Wilmette ask for

Homeowners in Wilmette frequently update 1920s and 1930s kitchens, which often involve reconfiguring galley layouts to create more open Living Space. Many 1950s and 1960s homes require Bathroom Design to modernize fixtures and expand smaller primary baths. We also see requests for Basement Remodel projects in homes built in the 1970s and 1980s, aiming to improve functionality and light. Furnishing & Styling is a common request for refreshed living areas across various home eras.

About the studio

Two sisters, one studio

Jennifer Peterson founded J. Peterson Design in 2008 and leads our work in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. Her sister, Jill Kearns, leads the Atlanta studio. Together, we design homes that feel considered and beautiful, but also comfortable, functional, and personal to the people who live in them.

Although we work in different cities, we operate as one studio. We talk through plans, share ideas, question each other, and bring another experienced set of eyes to the decisions that matter. Being sisters makes that collaboration especially natural — there is a shorthand, an honesty, and a shared standard that has been there long before the studio.
