Bathroom Design in Saint Joseph
Our Bath Design service creates detailed plans for new or renovated bathrooms. We design the layout, select all materials, and document the construction details for your contractor.
What we do
Our process begins with a design consultation to understand your goals for the space. We then present your design, including floor plans and elevations. Construction documents detail the plumbing locations and electrical needs. Material selections cover everything from tile and fixtures to lighting and paint colors. We conduct jobsite inspections to ensure the design is built as intended, and we assist with finishing touches like accessories.
Who it suits
This service is for homeowners in Chicago, Southwest Michigan, and Atlanta. It suits renovations of existing bathrooms in historic homes or new construction primary bathrooms, guest bathrooms, and powder rooms.

In Saint Joseph
Homes in Saint Joseph
Saint Joseph has a variety of homes, including 1950s ranch homes in areas like the Hollywood Park neighborhood, which often have small, closed-off kitchens that benefit from Kitchen Design. Many homes also include 1970s and 1980s two-story homes in subdivisions such as Meadowbrook, where primary bathrooms may be split into two small rooms, making Bathroom Design a common request. Newer homes built in the 2000s near Lake Michigan, like those in the North Shore Estates, often feature open-concept living spaces that benefit from Furnishing & Styling. We also work with homeowners in areas like the Broadmoor neighborhood, where 1920s and 1930s homes may have original layouts that need updating through a Full-Home Design.
What homeowners in Saint Joseph ask for
Homeowners in Saint Joseph often seek Kitchen Design to update 1950s galley kitchens, opening them to dining areas. Bathroom Design is also a frequent request for 1970s and 1980s homes with dated fixtures or inefficient layouts. We often provide Furnishing & Styling for newer homes with open living spaces, and Color Consultation for various eras of homes. Basement Remodel projects are common in many Saint Joseph homes to create additional functional living areas.
Bathroom Design work from the studio
Led by Jennifer Peterson from the Southwest Michigan studio
About the studio
Two sisters, one studio
Jennifer Peterson founded J. Peterson Design in 2008 and leads our work in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. Her sister, Jill Kearns, leads the Atlanta studio. Together, we design homes that feel considered and beautiful, but also comfortable, functional, and personal to the people who live in them.
Although we work in different cities, we operate as one studio. We talk through plans, share ideas, question each other, and bring another experienced set of eyes to the decisions that matter. Being sisters makes that collaboration especially natural — there is a shorthand, an honesty, and a shared standard that has been there long before the studio.
