Color Consultation in Palatine
Our Color Consultation service helps you select interior and exterior paint colors. We provide specific color recommendations for your home. This service focuses on color without changing layouts or furnishings.

We provide Construction documents detailing paint colors and finishes for your contractor. Jill Kearns leads these consultations in Atlanta, and Jennifer Peterson leads them in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. We do not provide jobsite inspections for this service.

Homes in Palatine
Many homes in Palatine are 1970s and 1980s two-story colonials in subdivisions like Deer Grove and Plum Grove Woodlands, often with kitchens closed off from dining rooms. We often work on Kitchen Design projects to open up these spaces. In older areas like the historic downtown, you find 1920s and 1930s bungalows, which sometimes have smaller, compartmentalized bathrooms, making Bathroom Design a common request. We also see 1990s and 2000s homes in developments like Bridlewood, where homeowners often seek Furnishing & Styling to update interiors.
What homeowners in Palatine ask for
Homeowners in Palatine frequently engage us for Kitchen Design to update 1970s and 1980s kitchens, often opening up the layout. We also commonly work on Bathroom Design for older homes, addressing smaller, dated primary bathrooms. Full-Home Design is popular for 1990s and 2000s homes where clients want to refresh multiple spaces.

About the studio
Two sisters, one studio
Jennifer Peterson founded J. Peterson Design in 2008 and leads our work in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. Her sister, Jill Kearns, leads the Atlanta studio. Together, we design homes that feel considered and beautiful, but also comfortable, functional, and personal to the people who live in them.
Although we work in different cities, we operate as one studio. We talk through plans, share ideas, question each other, and bring another experienced set of eyes to the decisions that matter. Being sisters makes that collaboration especially natural — there is a shorthand, an honesty, and a shared standard that has been there long before the studio.
